Behind the scenes - André Pohlmann

What is your personal slogan?

"There is strength in calm" and "Less is more".

Why Oldenburger?

Because it is something unique and special. The colleagues, the solidarity and the great team spirit that always inspires us to meet the quality and requirements of the customer..

What do you like most about your daily work?

The variety of work to be organised around the construction with the team. In quiet moments, I also like to open drawings and design them myself.

How do you find a balance to your daily work?

The best way is sports or handcrafting activities.

What was the most impressive building you have ever seen?

The Bauhaus and the Meisterhaus housing estate in Dessau. But actually it was the simple wooden cottage in the wilderness in the far north of Canada. Far away from roads and civilisation. Many lakes, no electricity, no running water, an oven and a piano. An indescribable experience when you own most things in this day and age.

What was the best book you ever read?

For me there are so many good books, for me there is no one book.
Short Answers to Big Questions, Powerquake, or even the recently read Target.

When was the last time you climbed a tree?

In spring 21 to trim two trees.

Which travel destinations do you want to purse next?

If the pandemic allows me to relax, the Croatian coast and the Adriatic Sea for a sailing trip. Mexico, Canada, especially the West Coast to visit friends.

Wood works.

It is essential for our work to become familiar with materials: to know their weaknesses, to make their properties and strengths visible, to show them in new contexts and to let them unfold their effect.

Despite all progress, the creative handling of the original material wood is still a supreme discipline that continues to fascinate us because of its aesthetic and functional possibilities. Being measured against the highest standards here is therefore always a special pleasure for us.
