Behind the scenes - Carsten Loges

What is your motto?

There is always a way!

Why Oldenburger?

Because Oldenburger is a great company!
We produce a very exciting and unique product. We combine traditional craftsmanship with very complex business processes. Combining and reconciling the different areas of expertise in this way is a very exciting task.

What challenges will the economy have to meet in the coming years?

Of course, the biggest challenge at first is to get through the current pandemic and adapt to the many changes. Then climate change will very quickly come to the fore again. From my point of view, the essential task, not only for the economy but for each and every one of us, will be to deal with nature and resources in a responsible and compatible manner.

What does this mean for Oldenburger?

We will always have to adapt to circumstances. We can see this very clearly in the structural adjustments currently being made in our company. I see this as very positive, because every crisis brings new opportunities. - There is always a way!

How do you find a balance to your daily work?

I like it very much to be outdoors, for example, to make an intensive tour by bike or to enjoy the peace in a canoe on the water. I can switch off and relax very well.

What is the best book you have ever read?

To be honest, I don't read that much. The Lord of the Rings, I put aside five times at the beginning, until I had read in and could dive into the story.

I like to read a good and appropriate technical book once in a while. "The Goal" A novel about process optimization. It describes things very clearly that you encounter again and again in your professional life.

When was the last time you climbed a tree?

That was not so long ago. I tried to climb after the children. However, I had to realize that they are clearly more nimble and that the branches no longer carry me.

What destination would you like to pursue next?
I like the north. I would like to go hiking in Scotland again. I have already lived there for half a year. A dream destination of mine is also South America. I would like to travel through Chile and discover Patagonia.

Wood works.

It is essential for our work to become familiar with materials: to know their weaknesses, to make their properties and strengths visible, to show them in new contexts and to let them unfold their effect.

Despite all progress, the creative handling of the original material wood is still a supreme discipline that continues to fascinate us because of its aesthetic and functional possibilities. Being measured against the highest standards here is therefore always a special pleasure for us.
